Overview

Island Peak (Imja Tse) is Nepal’s most climbed trekking peak and one of the best introductions to Himalayan mountaineering. Rising above the Imja Valley in the heart of the Everest region, the peak offers an exciting combination of high-altitude trekking, basic alpine climbing, and spectacular mountain scenery.

The journey follows the classic Everest Base Camp route through Sherpa villages, ancient monasteries, and breathtaking Himalayan landscapes before heading toward Island Peak Base Camp. The summit ascent involves glaciers, fixed ropes, crampons, and a steep summit ridge, providing a genuine mountaineering experience without the technical demands of Nepal’s larger expedition peaks.

From the summit, climbers are rewarded with outstanding views of Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Makalu, Baruntse, and countless surrounding peaks.
